Hey look, I Don’t need your judgment, This is all just for learning purposes I swear. These next liveries dont fit into a specific theme, I made them mostly to get better with Spec mapping and demonstrate how lighting effects a design looks. It also shows off more of my own logos, patterns and ideas rather than just copying them off something else
Texture Maps! Specular Maps! Topography Maps?!?
Lighting is something that is incredibly important and that’s why maps are super useful. Texture maps control how color will look, but spec maps change how light reflects off of the surface. The WV TI Topo was made to take advantage of IRacings new Spec map abilities. The silver streaks on the matte black surface really help the livery pop out without looking to overwhelmingly Metallic. Getting this all to work with custom logos and topography vectors did prove to be a challenge but in the end it made for excellent project and an even better looking car
P.o.P. or “The Power of POP!”
Spec mapping is more than just aesthetic it can really have an effect on how logos and brands are seen. The Coaster Bot McLaren MP4 shows off the effect of what differing textures can do. The glossy logo on the matte surface of the car really helps the logo jump out and it draws your attention to it. That mixed with the drop shadow on the pattern gives the design different visual layers. all this gives the design more depth, making it much more visually interesting without it being to busy and distracting
